CrimeHalo is designed to need as little personal information as possible. Reading the map, incidents and Briefs requires no account at all.
What CrimeHalo stores
If you create an account, CrimeHalo stores your sign-in identity and a public display name you choose. Nothing else about your account is shown publicly.
What other people can see
Community reports and comments show only your chosen public display name. CrimeHalo never publishes your legal name, e-mail address or any other account detail alongside your contributions.
Location
When you submit a community report, the precise pin you place is kept private and used only for moderation and quality checks. What appears publicly is an approximate area, never an exact private address.
Official records are shown only as precisely as the publishing agency provides them. CrimeHalo does not sharpen, guess or reconstruct a location.
Information about other people
Community reports and comments must not contain names or identifying details of private individuals, private home addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, licence plates, accusations presented as fact, threats or anything encouraging confrontation. Content is checked automatically before posting and higher-risk content is routed to human moderation.
Moderation records
Moderation actions are logged so decisions can be reviewed. These logs are visible only to CrimeHalo staff.
Removing your content
You can ask for your account and your community contributions to be removed. Official agency records are not yours or ours to remove — they remain published by the agency. Contact us through the contact page.
